The wheels of a car have a very hard life. As the wheels surround the brake discs they are prone to heavy contamination of metal fallout in the finish. Metal fallout is material thrown into the atmosphere from the friction of your brake pads on the disc. Fallout is usually made up of small, sharp metal fragments which stick into the paint of your car and in particular the wheels.
By applying a ceramic coating to your car wheels, you place a hard barrier between any contamination and the finish of your wheels. A ceramic coating also makes the wheels far easier to clean which is great for hard to reach areas.
Our coatings last for 4 years and are chemical resistant. The coatings can be applied to just the wheel face or to the entire wheel. A clean wheel drum really finishes off the look of a car, a ceramic coating keeps the wheels in a fantastic condition for a long period of time.
Definition Detailing are accredited by AutoBead for application of their professional only, Silex range. This is by far the best coating that we have found available in the UK.
Our ceramic wheel coating service is carried out on a fully mobile basis across Yorkshire
We begin by thoroughly cleaning the wheels to remove all dirt, brake dust, and road grime. A specialist wheel cleaner is applied to break down stubborn contamination, while soft brushes are used to clean deep into the barrels, spokes, and lug nut recesses. This ensures every surface is free from debris before the coating is applied.
To remove any bonded contaminants, we apply an iron fallout remover to dissolve embedded brake dust, followed by a tar remover to break down stubborn road tar. These steps prevent contamination from affecting the bond of the ceramic coating.
A fine-grade clay bar is used to remove any remaining microscopic contaminants from the wheel surface, leaving it completely smooth. The wheels are then wiped down with a panel preparation solution to remove any oils or residues, ensuring a perfect surface for the ceramic coating to bond to.
The ceramic coating is carefully applied to all wheel surfaces, including the face, spokes, and inner barrel, ensuring full protection. The coating is allowed to bond before being buffed to a smooth, even finish. This creates a durable, hydrophobic layer that repels water, dirt, and brake dust, significantly reducing buildup and making future cleaning easier.
The coating is left to cure, allowing it to form a strong, heat-resistant barrier that can withstand high temperatures generated by braking. A final inspection ensures even coverage and a flawless finish, leaving the wheels with enhanced gloss and long-lasting protection.
To maintain the ceramic coating, we provide aftercare guidance, including safe cleaning methods and recommended products to extend the longevity of the protection. With the coating in place, wheels will require less frequent and less aggressive cleaning, preserving their finish for the long term.
Our ceramic wheel coating service is ideal for keeping wheels cleaner, glossier, and more resistant to brake dust and road grime. Whether you have standard alloys or high-end custom wheels, this treatment offers the ultimate protection and ease of maintenance.
